    Job Title: Sr. Tableau Engineer

    Job Overview

    The Senior Tableau Consultant role is pivotal in transforming raw data into actionable insights by designing and developing interactive, dynamic, and visually compelling reports and dashboards using Tableau. In this position, you will collaborate closely with stakeholders, blending complex data sets to produce user-friendly dashboards, and setting the standard for high-quality data visualization practices. Your expertise in creating efficient workflows and optimizing Tableau Server configurations will ensure smooth report deployment and a seamless user experience.

    Key Responsibilities

    Data visualization design and development

    • Build intuitive and highly interactive Tableau reports and dashboards based on large datasets, providing actionable insights to support various business needs. 
    • Blend data from multiple sources and ensure the dashboards are tailored to reflect the most relevant and up-to-date information.
    • Stay updated on Tableau best practices, focusing on dashboard quality, consistency, usability, and reliability.
       

    Requirements Analysis & Documentation

    • Collaborate with stakeholders to define the scope and requirements for dashboards.
    • Document key technical and functional specifications, ensuring all stakeholders understand the dashboard development process.
    • Provide recommendations on report optimization and communicate progress updates regularly.
       

    Tableau Server Configuration & Maintenance

    • Manage Tableau Server configuration and ensure it operates optimally to meet organizational needs.
    • Regularly monitor and maintain the Tableau environment, ensuring performance tuning, user access, security, and permissions are appropriately managed.
       

    SQL Query Development

    • Write, execute, and interpret complex SQL queries to support dashboard data needs, ensuring accurate data extraction and manipulation.
    • Optimize SQL queries for performance, ensuring large datasets are handled efficiently.
       

    Process Standardization

    • Develop, implement, and enforce standards and best practices for requesting, prioritizing, and developing dashboards.
    • Lead efforts to establish consistency in design and usability across the organization’s Tableau implementations.
       

    Collaboration & Troubleshooting

    • Work closely with technical teams and end users to troubleshoot platform issues, addressing any system disruptions swiftly.
    • Collaborate with global teams and provide mentorship to junior Tableau developers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality work.
       

    Required Qualifications

    Education

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
       

    Experience

    • Minimum of 6 to 8 years in IT, with at least 5 years dedicated to Tableau development.
    • Demonstrable experience in building interactive dashboards and visual analytics.
    • Strong SQL skills, with hands-on experience in writing complex queries, data analysis, data profiling, and validation.
    • 3+ years of experience in using Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server.
    • A deep understanding of Tableau optimization techniques and configuration for large datasets.
    • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
    • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts, OLAP, OLTP datasets, and Tableau Prep is highly desirable.
       

    Technical Expertise

    • Expertise in designing Tableau dashboards with both live and extracted data sources.
    • Strong foundation in Data Warehouse Modeling, OLAP, and OLTP datasets, and experience with PLSQL and stored procedures.
    • Knowledge of graphic design, data visualization principles, and user experience design.
    • Experience with Tableau performance tuning, debugging, security management, and Tableau Server configurations.
       

    Desired Skills

    • Experience with Python and JavaScript is a significant advantage.
    • Exposure to Exasol Lua scripting, D3.js, and other charting libraries.
    • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, BI Engine) and NoSQL & indexing technologies.
    • Strong understanding of star and snowflake schema designs and in-memory analytics.
    • Ability to lead a team of Tableau developers and collaborate across various time zones.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication skills, capable of interfacing with technical and non-technical stakeholders, management, and customers.
