Job Title:  Mainframe Consultant

Job Overview: 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mainframe Consultant to join our team in Omaha, NE. As a Mainframe Consultant, you will be responsible for providing expert-level support and guidance in the development, maintenance, and optimization of mainframe systems. This role requires a deep understanding of mainframe technologies and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Job Responsibilities:

• System Development and Maintenance: Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, and DB2. Ensure the reliability and performance of mainframe systems.
• Technical Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting for mainframe applications. Resolve complex issues and ensure minimal downtime.
• Requirement Analysis: Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements. Translate business needs into technical specifications.
• Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize the performance of mainframe applications. Implement best practices to enhance system efficiency.
• Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for mainframe systems, including design specifications, user manuals, and operational procedures.
• Project Management: Lead and manage mainframe-related projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project goals and timelines.
• Training and Mentoring: Provide training and mentorship to junior team members. Share knowledge and best practices to enhance team capabilities.
   

Qualification:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience working with mainframe systems.
• Strong knowledge of mainframe operating systems such as z/OS.
• Experience with performance optimization, system monitoring, and troubleshooting.
   

Job Role: 

As a Mainframe Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the stability and performance of our mainframe systems. You will work closely with various teams to design and implement solutions that meet business requirements. Your role will involve both hands-on development and strategic planning to drive continuous improvement in mainframe operations.

Mainframe Consultant Duty Framework:

• System Analysis: Conduct a thorough analysis of existing mainframe systems to identify areas for improvement. Develop strategies to enhance system performance and reliability.
• Application Development: Design and develop mainframe applications using industry-standard tools and languages. Ensure code quality and adherence to best practices.
• Integration: Integrate mainframe applications with other systems and platforms. Ensure seamless data flow and interoperability.
• Testing and Deployment: Conduct rigorous testing of mainframe applications to ensure functionality and performance. Deploy applications to production environments and monitor for issues.
• Maintenance and Support: Provide ongoing maintenance and support for mainframe systems. Troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly to minimize impact on operations.

• Mainframe Technologies: Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and other mainframe technologies.

Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree: A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications such as IBM Certified System Programmer or similar are a plus.
