    Job Title: ETL Datastage Support

    Work Location: Charlotte, NC

     

    Job Overview:

    We are seeking an experienced DataStage Developer to take charge of developing and managing ETL processes. Your primary responsibility will be designing, creating, and maintaining DataStage jobs, along with troubleshooting and resolving issues in existing ETL jobs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analysis, the ability to work independently, and minimal need for supervision. Experience with database programming (such as SQL) and job scheduling tools (like Control-M) is highly desirable.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes using DataStage in line with project requirements.
    • Optimize existing DataStage jobs to improve performance and efficiency.
    • Review the design and code of DataStage jobs created by other developers for quality and compliance.
    • Troubleshoot and analyze job failures to identify and resolve root causes.
    • Collaborate with development teams to ensure all DataStage jobs follow company standards and best practices.
    • Provide production support for DataStage jobs, resolving issues as they arise.
    • Develop new DataStage jobs to load data into the data warehouse and ensure accuracy through testing.
    • Deploy DataStage jobs to production environments and monitor execution to identify and address potential issues.
    • Maintain thorough documentation of all developed ETL jobs.
    • Assist with ongoing data loads and support issue resolution.
    • Collaborate with project leaders to define timelines and project goals.
       

    Required Skills:

    • Extensive IT experience, particularly in Production Support and ETL processes.
    • Strong development expertise in DataStage versions 8.5/8.7/9.1, ETL design, UNIX scripting, debugging, Oracle databases, AUTOSYS, and TOAD.
    • Deep understanding of ETL architecture and solutions, with proven skills in designing and developing ETL systems.
    • Proficient in programming and scripting with knowledge of version control and configuration management tools, as well as deployment script development.
    • Experience in troubleshooting, analyzing, researching, and resolving issues using advanced querying and programming skills, including conducting root cause analysis.
    • Hands-on experience with a range of monitoring tools and in-depth knowledge of technical production support roles.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team, with strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Experience in IT Batch Operations, providing frontline technical support, managing issues related to incident management, release and deployment, operational readiness, and production governance.
       

    Desired Skills:

    • Additional exposure to tools and technologies such as Information Governance Catalog, JCL, CA7, BMC, Project Management, Easytrieve, MDM, C++, and Basic Java would be advantageous.
    • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
    • A minimum of 3+ years of experience in DataStage development and administration.
    • Experience with ETL tools like DataStage, Informatica, Ab Initio, or Oracle ETL.
    • Strong SQL skills and proficiency in relevant programming languages.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
       

    Experience:

    • Familiarity with SQL, Business Glossary, Metadata Workbench, and Information Analyzer.
    • Experience with HP Vertica databases and UNIX Shell scripting is highly desirable.
    • Prior experience in the banking or finance sector and working with globally distributed teams.
    • Experience with Hadoop is a plus.
    • Expertise in designing, implementing, and deploying DataStage solutions.
    • 7+ years of experience with Mainframe/COBOL systems.
    • Strong database background with one or more databases such as Vertica, Mainframe, DB2, Teradata, Cassandra, or Oracle.
