    Job Title: BI SAS Admin

    Work Location: Whippany, NJ (Onsite)

     

    Job Overview:

    We’re looking for an SAS Administrator to manage the architecture, deployment, and support of enterprise-scale SAS environments hosted at our data center or in the cloud. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of SAS Intelligence platform architecture and experience administering high-availability systems like SAS Customer Intelligence, Visual Analytics, or Grid platform applications.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Ensure the availability and performance of SAS tools and software across the organization.
    • Administer SAS clusters for development, QA, production, and disaster recovery.
    • Oversee SAS software management, including configuration, patching, updates, and license renewals on Linux/RedHat (RHEL) platforms.
    • Conduct capacity planning, performance tuning, and monitoring for the SAS platform.
    • Identify and address system bottlenecks, ensuring optimal SAS platform performance.
    • Implement and maintain platform security using SAS Metadata, Linux OS, LDAP/Active Directory, and data warehousing.
    • Manage user identities, groups, and permissions within the SAS platform.
    • Use SAS Management Console to configure data sources, libraries, and metadata structures.
    • Administer permissions for metadata objects and test connectivity with relational databases.
    • Act as a subject matter expert for SAS, providing guidance and support to users and IT teams.
    • Lead resolution efforts for production issues, working closely with SAS Technical Support.
    • Collaborate with IT teams across storage, server, database, and network administration to ensure seamless operations.
    • Develop and update compliance policies and documentation.
    • Provide on-call production support through a rotation schedule.
       

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a SAS Administrator, with in-depth knowledge of SAS Intelligence platform architecture.
    • Expertise in SAS Metadata Management Console, including server, user, and library management.
    • Strong Linux/RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) system administration skills.
    • Proficiency in SAS platform security, performance optimization, server design, and system backup/recovery.
    • Familiarity with automated monitoring tools to maintain platform SLAs.
    • Knowledge of data center infrastructure, particularly storage technologies like SAN, NAS, RAID, and filesystems.
    • Experience with virtualization and Base/Macro SAS programming.
    • Competency in Linux shell scripting and integrating SAS with data warehouse environments like Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Hadoop, Amazon RedShift, Oracle, or SPDS.
    • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
       

    Preferred Skills:

    • Experience administering applications within the SAS Customer Intelligence suite, including SAS Marketing Automation (SAS MA), SAS Marketing Optimization (SAS MO), and SAS Real-Time Decision Manager (RTDM).
    • Experience managing SAS in complex, high-availability environments (multi-machine, multi-tier), SAS Grid computing, and in-memory processing.
    • SAS Visual Analytics administration experience.
    • SAS Certified Platform Administrator certification or equivalent.
    • Familiarity with cloud environments, especially AWS.
    • Base SAS and Advanced SAS certification.
    • Knowledge of IT automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
    • Experience with IT service management processes, including ITIL for service, incidents, changes, and configurations.
       

    Preferred Experience for a SAS Administrator:

    • Over 6 years of experience managing and supporting multi-terabyte SAS environments on an enterprise scale, catering to various business units.
    • In-depth expertise in relational database design, as well as a solid grasp of data warehousing best practices.
    • Advanced proficiency in SQL, with hands-on experience in databases such as Oracle, MySQL, and Teradata.
    • Comprehensive understanding of SAS analytics, including statistical analysis, forecasting, predictive modeling, and data mining techniques.
    • Strong foundational knowledge of systems architecture, networking, and storage solutions.
    • Proven experience in installing and applying patches for SAS software in a UNIX-based environment.
